The NEET exam is held every year in May. The exam is conducted offline, i.e. students must attempt the questions on paper. The total duration of the NEET exam is 3 hours.
The NEET exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Each question carries four marks. For each wrong answer, one spot is deducted from the total score.

- Admission into an MBBS course in a private medical college is subject to the availability of seats.
- Students seeking admission into an MBBS course in a private medical college must have completed Class 12th or an equivalent qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology as their main subjects.
- Students seeking admission into an MBBS course in a private medical college must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology subjects in their Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination.
- Students in the SC/ST category are eligible for admission into an MBBS course in a private medical college with a minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology subjects in their Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination.
- Students who have completed Class 12th or an equivalent qualifying examination from a foreign university are also eligible for admission into an MBBS course in a private medical college, provided they have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology subjects in their Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination.
