BAMS Duration in India

BAMS course duration in India is five and a half years, divided into four and a half years of academic study and one year of internship.

  1.  The first two years of the course include the study of ayurvedic texts, human anatomy, physiology, and other basic subjects.
  2. After that, students can specialize in the eight branches of Ayurveda: kayachikitsa, shalya tantra, shalakya tantra, kaumara brihatya, prasutitantra evam striroga, agadtantra evam vyavaharayurveda, rasayanashastra evam bhaishajya kalpana, dravyagujanashastra or pharmacology.
  3. BAMS degree holders can either set up their clinic or hospital or join government hospitals. They can also pursue further studies in Ayurveda by opting for the MD (Ayurveda) course for three years.

      Eligibility Criteria to Study BAMS in India

      1. The minimum age limit to pursue the course is 17 years, and the maximum age limit is 20 years for the general category and 24 years for the reserved category.
      2. Aspirants must have cleared high school or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects.
      3. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% to 60% marks depending on their chosen college.
